South Cambie
Conceived in the winter of 2023 and completed in the spring of 2023, this contemporary residential landscape was built and designed in collaboration with Nestworks Construction in the South Cambie neighbourhood of Vancouver.
The design plays with contrast, pairing the warmth of the home’s reclaimed brick with a natural basalt stone retaining wall, modern cast in place concrete steps, and a clean galvanized steel railing. Together, these elements create a strong and welcoming approach that feels both refined and approachable, allowing the funky character of the home to shine.
Simple, layered planting softens the architecture and supports the homeowner’s love of vegetable gardening. Purposeful growing spaces were dedicated throughout the landscape, making room for year round food production while complementing the home’s architecture. The result is a landscape that feels fluid, inviting, and full of life, where modern building materials meet natural and reclaimed materials to come together effortlessly.
